So, the news is out! I've sold my majority Eli's ownership to one of my favorite people, Rachel Berchtold, and her husband Weston. This is an idea I've toyed with for awhile but could never 'pull the plug.' I adore Eli's. I created Eli's. I miss Eli's when I'm gone from it for too long (like more than 24 hours.) Selling something so close to your heart, that is literally thriving, is a painful thing to do. Until you find the right people, and those people for me are Rachel and Weston. The question of the hour though is, "What's next for you, Katie? I don't see you sitting still for very long!"
True. Very, very true.
Ben and I still own a good portion of Eli's, but Rachel is running the show. This frees me up to do something new and super exciting to me....consulting! As a small business owner, I often get asked for advice, which I gladly have given for free. It's fun to help other businesses work through issues that I've seen myself in and it's even more fun to see them come out of them more easily than I did, simply because they took my advice.
I want to take it to the next level though. I'm excited to work with business owners, specifically those who are struggling with employee management or hitting brick walls with marketing. I also hope to connect with those who are parents, business owners or not, and help with with balancing 'it' all. Which leads me to...
How I came up with "Who moved my chia seeds"? It came out of a day when I was home with my son, wanting to make a smoothie. A super healthy one. With chia seeds. I couldn't let it go that I HAD to have chia seeds. I knew I had them at home. I knew where I had put them last. Instead of just making the smoothie I tore through the cupboards, the pantry, the fridge, getting more and more frustrated. "WHO MOVED MY CHIA SEEDS?!?!?!"
Enough. My life was crazy. I needed some calm, some organization. I always did so much...ate healthy, trained for races, sat on non profit boards, did all of my own accounting and management for the shops, didn't have a cleaning person...it had to stop.
I've got a few tricks up my sleeve to help nearly anyone with life or businesses management. I'm happy to give advice or just be a neutral ear to listen to your struggles. Send me a message to connect and see how you too can thrive through the great balancing act of life!
